Progressive Appleton Lecture: Appleton's First Flight
Join Michael Goc, an aviation historian, in his lecture about Cal Rodgers, the man who made the first airplane flight in Appleton and the Fox Cities in 1911. Cal Rodgers, a prominent figure in the exhibit, Progressive Appleton: Through the Lens of W.D. Schlafer, performed simple aerobatics and flew out over Lake Winnebago. He won a race with an automobile on Appleton's College Avenue and took aloft the first Wisconsin women to fly. Learn about a famous flight Rodgers would make later that year.
