NFL free agency is upon us once again and other than Greg Jennings signing elsewhere, it'll come as a shock if Green Bay makes any headlines in the early going. Just isn't Ted Thompson's way and his way has won a lot of ball games.
Ironically enough, at one time, the Packers may have made the biggest free agent acquisition of all-time, that, of course, being Reggie White. Free agency was supposed to kill little old Green Bay, and then the Packers wind up signing the no-doubt-about-it hall of famer and the rest is history.
We can thank Ron Wolf for that, and while Ted Thompson isn't a regular player in the free agent market, He did bring in Charles Woodson, another sure-bet for the hall of fame.
The Packers GM also signed Ryan Pickett, and while guys like Reggie and Woodson have provided Green Bay with headline acts, Pickett wins the Oscar for his work in a supporting role.
He's done the dirty work and done it well for 7 seasons, he's a team guy and a leader, and off the field, he's a great human being.
If Ted Thompson decides to dabble in free agency this year, here's to hoping he brings in another Pickett, or two.
