A couple thoughts on the Vikings game before we move on to the 49'ers.
As goofy as it may sound, the Packer defensive linemen actually played better when Adrian Peterson rushed for 199 yards last week. Don't get me wrong, they were still good in this one, but they dominated in the other.
The real difference in the re-match were the guys on the edges, like Clay Matthews, Erik Walden, and Dezman Moses. They did a real good job of staying outside in on Peterson, and not allowing him to break contain.
The tackling as a whole was also much improved on Saturday night, and you know who stepped up big in that regard, Sam Shields. He certainly did his part in holding Peterson to 99 yards.
While it's true Joe Webb did a poor impersonation of a NFL quarterback, part of his problem was the coverage down-field by Shields and the rest of the secondary. Just an overall good defensive effort.
Offensively, Aaron Rodgers was Aaron Rodgers, Dujaun Harris isn't just a novelty, he looks like the real deal, his feet are amazing, but the line has to play better, and it'll need to.
San Francisco finished the regular season allowing just 3-7 a carry and one of their outside rushers, Aldon Smith, had 19 and a half sacks.
We'll have more on the Packers-Niners match-up as the week goes on.
