What's at Stake in Minneapolis on Sunday

  • Print

Time to take a look at how Sunday's Packers-Vikings game shapes up.

On the Minnesota side of the ledger, they've got the more tangible carrot to go after, that being a playoff spot. The Packers already have that money in the bank, and their reward for a win is the extra playoff goodies, like the bye, which may or may not be all that it's cracked up to be..

The Vikings also have Adrian Peterson on their side of the ledger, no further explanation needed there, and a defense that's respectable plus.

The noise generated at Mall of America field, a-k-a The Metrodome, rates as a legitimate home field advantage as well.

As for the Packers, they seem to be a team that's heading in the right direction and peeking at the right time, on both sides of the ball. Their bottom line, points for and points against, number 7 in the league on both counts.

The Packers also practiced in pads for the first time in several weeks yesterday, and the session was impressive. Folks flying around and playing fast, there was a real edge to their work.

Good practices don't always translate into good games but having a much better quarterback does, and it would come as a real surprise if Aaron Rodgers doesn't tilt the field in the Packers favor. He's just so much better than Christian Ponder.

The Vikings would like to make it an Adrian Peterson game, the Packer Defense needs to make it a Christian Ponder game.
