The Packers got better as the game wore on, the Lions got worse, and Green Bay earns a 27-20 victory.
Particularly impressive, the way both sides of the line scrimmage eventually took control. Defensively, the Packers allowed 78 yards rushing in the first quarter but just 18 in the entire second half.
Offensively, Green Bay put together a statement drive early in the fourth quarter when it went 59 yards in 7 plays, all of them on the ground. Plenty of time and opportunities remained for the Lions, but after that they were a beaten team. Throw it over the top, you beat one guy, shove it down their throats, you beat all eleven.
He may end up losing the left guard position when TJ Lang returns, but Evan Dietrich-Smith played well against good people. Really got after Nick Fairly and did a nice job pulling as well.
As for unsung heroes on the defensive side of ball, my vote would go to Ryan Pickett and BJ Raji. The Packers played with just two lineman on the field all game long, and to get away with that, those two linemen have to play well. They did.
In the back end, Calvin Johnson did wind up with 118 yards receiving, but it took him ten catches to get them. Actually thought the Packers, and in particular Tramon Williams, did a nice job on him..
And that Randall Cobb kid, he's a keeper.
