Back to Work for Banged Up Packers

  • Print

Like the NFL proclaimed a couple of months ago, it was "back to football" for the Green Bay Packers today.

For a first practice following a bye week it was a rather newsy day.

The headline act, Bryan Bulaga going to injured reserve with a significant hip injury. As was the case last game, he'll be replaced by TJ Lang, with Lang's spot at left guard being taken by Evan Dietrich Smith. Bulaga's a fine player, future pro bowler in my humble opinion, but as long as no one else gets hurt, the Packers can weather the storm.

Someone else goes down, all the Packers have currently is a pair of untested rookies, Don Barclay and Greg Van-Roten.

Clay Matthews was a non-participant, and with his hamstring history, it would come as no surprise if he missed the Lions game, maybe more.

On the plus side of the injury ledger, Charles Woodson, Sam Shields, Jerel Worthy and John Kuhn all did varying degrees of some football type work. All had been out all together pre-bye.

Jordy Nelson also showed no-ill affects from that sprained ankle.

One final note, taking Bulaga's roster spot, Linebacker Vic So'oto.
