Bruised and Battered, Packers Rely on Depth Going Forward
What happens in the Packers remaining 7 games, and hopefully beyond, will determine this Packer team's legacy, but what's already happened says a lot.
What happens in the Packers remaining 7 games, and hopefully beyond, will determine this Packer team's legacy, but what's already happened says a lot.
Instead of running off 13 straight victories like last season, the Packers lost their opener, and didn't manage to get above five-hundred until game seven.
Instead of scoring points at a record pace from the get-go, it took a while for the offense to find its way, and it's still a work in progress.
Instead of topping the charts in take-aways, the Packers have a very ordinary dozen to date.
Instead of being relatively healthy, the Packers have been injured beyond recognition to the tune of nine starters by the end of their last game.
Despite all of the above, the Packers have won four straight and hit the bye with a 6 and 3 record.
That says an awful lot about this team's talent, depth and just as important, its attitude, and the news gets better.
Aaron Rodgers and company have already shown they're too good to sputter over the long haul...
Not near as many take-aways but they've been replaced by better down-to-down defense. The Packers are stopping the run and for the most part, the tackling's improved.
All those hurt guys, most will get healthy and return, and in the meantime, those young guys replacing them, they're getting better, and that makes the Packers better.
Seven games left, 5 within the division, tough road ahead, but that's a road they've traveled, and traveled pretty well.
