Mixed Bag of News for Wisconsin Unemployment

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Unemployment rates rose in six of Wisconsin's 12 Wisconsin metropolitan areas in November. The state Department of Workforce Development says unemployment rose in the Eau Claire, Green Bay, La Crosse, Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, Racine and Sheboygan areas. The Fond du Lac and Oshkosh-Neenah areas saw slight decreases.

The remaining four areas - Appleton, Janesville, Madison and Wausau saw no change. The Janesville area continued to have the highest unemployment rate at 10.9 percent. The Madison area had the lowest at 5.5 percent. Unemployment rose in 59 of Wisconsin's 72 counties. Menominee County had the highest rate at 12.2 percent. That county led the state in unemployment in October as well, at 13.1 percent.
