For nearly 6 months, NBC26 has been investigating numerous complaints filed against Going Places Travel, a travel company located in Grand Chute.  Today, we bring you the very latest.

Hotels up to 65% off!  Cruises at 50%! Discounted tour packages!  All these promises were made to Alice Steffen during a sales presentation at Going Places Travel.  But what really lured her in... "The promise that for a reduced rate you would get one week at a condo," Alice said.

She took the bait and for about $3000 signed up with Going Places.  That agreement bought her a membership to Phoenix Vacation Club.  However, Alice soon learned of the fine print when trying to book her condo.  She noted, "If the resort fills up, they can cancel your reservation."  She further stated if you book a condo, it can only be booked two weeks in advance.  That leaves her with very little time to plan a vacation.

Alice says the fine details aren't spelled out during the high pressured sales talk.  "What they promised and what they were actually willing to fulfill are two very different things."

NBC26 went to Going Places Travel for answers, but found Going Places no longer in business at their Grand Chute address.  Our emails and phone calls to the company were not returned.

The Department of Justice says they're aware of the situation.  "The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating the matter.  It is an on-going and active investigation.  We would have no further comment at this time."

As for Alice, the only thing she's received so far from her membership... "two plastic luggage identification tags."  She says she's learned her lesson.  "We got scammed and it's a little embarrassing.  Maybe what they're doing isn't illegal, but it's immoral because they're lying."

NBC26 received a total of 28 complaints since we began investigating Going Places.  The Wisconsin Department of Justice says they received 65.  If you feel you've been scammed by Going Places Travel call Wisconsin Department of Consumer Protection 1-800-422-7128.
