Dave Catalano of Green Bay listens intently to his HAM radio, trying pick up the latest information about the aftermath from the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
"There's not a lot because communications are very short because the power that they have is mostly battery power," Catalano says.
What information does trickle out over amateur radio waves in Haiti paints a very bleak picture.
"Robert I think his name is down there in Haiti, reported that at 5:21 Eastern Time there was an aftershock down there," he says.
Operators around the country monitoring emergency frequencies...ready to do what they can to help in this time of crisis.
"As an amateur radio operator, I think alot of us want to help as much as we can, and so we're all listening, hoping that maybe there is some traffic that want's to come to Wisconsin and maybe we can call back and offer our assistance if we can," he says.
Providing a helping hand... and voice to those who cannot be heard.
"There's a saying in the Amateur Radio Relay League that when all else fails there's HAM radio."
