WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) - A suburban Milwaukee police officer is shot and wounded while investigating an armed robbery. Police in Wauwatosa (wah-wah-TOH'-sah) say the officer was among those who responded to a report of a robbery at the Happy Wok restaurant about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Restaurant employees told police the suspects may have gone to a nearby apartment complex. An officer who went to the apartment complex saw the suspects and started chasing them. The suspects fired at the officer, striking her.
One suspect was arrested. Police are searched for additional suspects early Monday. WTMJ-TV reports the officer underwent surgery at Froedtert (FRAY'-dert) Memorial Lutheran Hospital and is expected to survive.
