Kaukauna Junior Varsity Coach Joe Buelow collapsed and died during a practice session with the team on Tuesday. Now, the team and the school are doing their best to cope with the loss.
The players held practice as usual Wednesday afternoon. But before, they had a team dinner to remember their coach who gave so much to Kaukauna basketball.
One player tells NBC26 Kaukauna High School is devastated. He did not want to go on TV but says his heart along with the hearts of his teammates dropped at Tuesday's practice. When screams for help were heard in the gym. The 46-year-old junior varsity coach collapsed and wasn't moving. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Since the tragedy, players have been reminiscing about the fun they had with coach Buelow. His name has been written on player's shoes and they're planning on wearing a patch on their jerseys. The players say every time they take the court this season they'll be playing for him.
