When Lance Corporal Josh Wege was injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last month his father Dave Wege feared the worst.

"I saw the stitches I saw him in pain."

Now just six weeks after his feet were amputated Wege has been fit with new prosthetic feet and his father Dave says he is making the doctors nervous.

"Hearing him talk about well they told me to do a few steps so I did 10, today I walked 30 or 40 steps."

But Dave says that's just Josh...and adds his next steps will be milestones.

"He's got some incredible goals like walking through the door at Christmas, walking out on the tarmac when his unit comes home from Afghanistan."

He has more motivation sitting in his garage at home waiting for him.  A car his father picked up for Josh just before he shipped out to Afghanistan... Dave says Josh will reach that goal too.

"100 percent sure it's gonna happen."

That's because when Josh sets a goal for himself he reaches it.

"He's not a quitter and when he has a dream and reaches for it he doesn't take anything but success as his final goal...he's quite a kid."
