With confirmation of the second H1N1 related death in Oconto County people that turned out at this H1N1 clinic in Oconto say getting the vaccine now, takes on extra urgency.

A new group can now get the H1N1 vaccine.  Anyone between age 19 and 64 with chronic medical conditions. That has more people than ever before, lining up, to get the shot.

"They have been waiting patiently, so with the addition of that group that's why we are seeing more people, that they really are wanting the vaccine," says Oconto County Health Officer Debra Konitzer.

Lisa Thomson knows first hand the effects of the swine flu, the oldest of her three children just recovered from it.

"He ended up very sick with it and he was out of school for about a week and a half."

She says that's why she got the vaccine for herself and her other two children.

"We just don't want to take any chances," she says.

Others like Cindy Rutledge say the second death in their county helped make up their mind.

"Scared me when I heard about the first one, if the shot had been available six weeks ago I would have been here to get it, I think everyone should be taking advantage of it to get it if they can."

Gay Izdepski agrees.

"That was a factor in my decision because I have heard about the number of deaths in Wisconsin and now in our area and I think you can't be too careful because it is a pandemic."

But with the vaccine becoming more readily available Thomson says she feels safer now that her family is protected.

"I just feel a lot better now that we were able to come today and get this done."
