Dozens of people turned out to show support for the Green Bay Post Office including some who don't even work at that location. They protested a possible move that would eliminate out-going mail. The protesters say jobs are on the line. "What I fear is job loss, job security in Green Bay. Its the same way we felt when they were going to take our mail away in Oshkosh"; protester Dave Meier told us. "They tried to take our mail 3 years ago. They supported us we're up here to support them."
The U.S. Postal Service says it is studying to see if they should combine Green Bay's distribution center with Oshkosh's. It's an effort to cut costs but some worry it may affect customers. Protesters warn of mail being delayed and perhaps poor service. A post Office spokesman tells NBC26, there should be no decline in mail through a consolidation.
But even without a delay, if the consolidation plan is cleared by the post office, many worry about losing the Green Bay post-mark.
The post office consolidation study due back in early November.
