KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) - Police in Kenosha say a jewelry store owner foiled an armed robbery by shooting 1 of the robbers.
Police say two male suspects entered the Jewelry Exchange on Wednesday afternoon. One pointed a handgun at the store owner, who pulled his own handgun from underneath a desk and fired one shot at the armed suspect. Both suspects fled.
An officer found the injured suspect lying on the grass about a block away. He was conscious, but had a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital where he's reported in stable condition.
The other suspect is still at large. Police have not identified either man, but say the suspect who got shot is a 29-year-old believed to be from Zion, Illinois.
Police say the store owner is cooperating with their investigation.
