The first severe storm of the summer in the NBC26 viewing area brought hail and high winds to southwestern Green Lake County Monday evening.
Dalton fire crews battled driving rain to remove a tree blocking Highway HH in the town of Kingston. It was just one of many taken out by the strong summer storm. A wall of dark clouds sent many residents to their basements, fearing a tornado.
"Some dark clouds came down and started circulating a bit... We were just around the property and probably lost a good 6 to 8 trees, just from the wind, it was a powerful storm that came through," said neighbor Aubrey Boyles.
"All of a sudden the wind came up, the hail came, then the storm reversed and that's when we found our shed was gone," said homeowner Randy Eager.
Randy's shed is now a crumpled mess, but with no one hurt, many are counting their blessings. Dalton fire crews say aside from the shed collapse, lightning did hit some cement near a home but again no one was hurt.
