MADISON, Wis. (AP) - State election officials have dismissed a complaint against a northern Wisconsin state senator's campaign.

The state Republican Party filed a complaint with the Government Accountability Board alleging Sen. Jim Holperin's campaign illegally coordinated with a political action committee. The GOP says former Sen. Roger Breske founded the committee and helped Holperin's campaign.

Breske, D-Eland, gave up his Senate seat in 2008 after Gov. Jim Doyle named him railroad commissioner. Holperin, D-Conover, won the seat in the November 2008 elections.

Board investigators spoke with Holperin, Breske, Democratic Party officials and their aides. They concluded everyone was extremely careful to avoid any inference of coordination.

The board concluded at its June 22 meeting there was no probable cause to support the complaint.
