The deadline is approaching to sign up for the Do Not Call List. You have until Sunday at Midnight to call and get on the list. The Do Not Call List has become the biggest consumer complaint. Last year the Bureau of Consumer Protection received 2,225 complaints from people saying telemarketers were calling even though they were on the DO Not Call List. "Some will just be persistant sometimes keep calling you, if you're lucky they'll stop." But for some 30,000 Americans, they didn't. Now the Federal Trade COmmission is cracking down on car warranty robocalls. "I have gotten a call on the warranties. They left a voice mail, telling me to call back. I'm hoping Idon't get anymore calls." Those companies who do continue to call those people on the Do Not Call list will be fined $100 per call... and telemarketers typically make hundreds of calls. Some of those calls come from Canada, making it very difficult for consumer protection to track them down.
